Kala
THIS RUG'S STORY:
Pink flatwoven vintage Moroccan rugs are few and far between! This kilim (also known as a Hanbel) has a lovely array of pink stripes. It is quite long, which could be perfect for a narrow or more rectangular room. Kala has the prettiest pink stripes, with a little purple, faded orange, and black in there too. It is a stunner from the Boujad region in Morocco, and would compliment a more modern home very nicely.
ABOUT MOROCCAN RUGS:
Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors in each rug vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.
COLORS/MATERIALS: Varying shades of pink with some purple tones, faded orange, and black details. Handwoven, handknotted wool.
ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage - estimated 30-40 years
*Please note there are some minor imperfections if you look close (very small holes, frayed edges, a couple stains). These are very minor though and I do not believe they take away from the overall beauty of this amazing rug.
