Be Still My Heart
STORY: This rug originated from the Middle Atlas region in Morocco, and was handcrafted from the Beni Ourain tribe. I hand selected this rug on my most recent trip to Morocco. I named it "Be Still My Heart" because you will notice what look like heart motifs in the rugs. I was told these may symbolize birds, but I was drawn to these shapes as I haven't seen another one like it. You'll also notice other symbols such as a teapot. The Berber women often would weave these symbols into the rugs to tell a story or place significance on specific traditions, events, or objects.
COLORS/MATERIALS: Creamy Natural Ivory/Beige with Gray/Black details. Hand knotted natural wool.
(**Please note, this rug is NOT white. See detail shots for accurate depiction of color.)
ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage - approximately 30 years old. (You can find what looks like an 83 in the rug, which is likely the year it was made)
PILE: Medium to High
SIZE: 74" x 132"
PLEASE NOTE: Because this is a handmade item, there may be slight imperfections. Please note all vintage items have endured a previous life and so may have slight wear and repairs.
