THIS RUG'S STORY:
Agafay is a special one. Named after the Agafay Desert near Marrakech, this vintage Beni M'Guild has a lighter color palette that you typically do not find in this type of rug. With desert sand tones, I would say this one is a combination of light orangey beige, tan, and sand colors with browns and silver-green details.
This is one of those pieces that I could not quit! I saw it a couple times from one of my rug sources, and finally I pulled the trigger from abroad. I'm so happy I did because honestly it is one that is better in person than the pictures! It's diamond pattern is timeless and the change of color keeps it interesting.
ABOUT MOROCCAN RUGS:
Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.
COLORS/MATERIALS: Red has been faded to a light orangey beige color, with brown and gray/green details. Hand knotted wool.
ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage
SIZE: 73-75" x 113" (width changes throughout the length of the rug - these vintage ones are not always perfectly straight)

PLEASE NOTE: Because this is a handmade item, there may be slight imperfections in weaving, pattern, or shape. Please note all vintage items have endured a previous life and so may have slight wear and repairs.
