THIS RUG'S STORY:
Jovial is a very unique and rare rug from the Rehamna tribe in Morocco. This tribe no longer weaves rugs in Morocco, so rugs from this region are becoming harder and harder to find. Typically, their rugs are in a red tone, so the pink background and range of colors is very interesting and not typical. I’ve had this rug in my collection for nearly 6 years before deciding to finally list it for sale, as it is one of my personal favorite finds.
ABOUT MOROCCAN RUGS:
Each vintage Moroccan rug is hand woven and knotted by Berber women of the tribal region specified. This level of craftsmanship can take up to weeks or months to complete a single rug. Weaving techniques have been passed down through the generations. The patterns, designs, and colors in each rug vary with each rug, weaver, and tribe – so each piece is truly a unique work of art and 2 pieces will never be the same. Often these rugs have been handed down through the families who created them, and have been uncovered from the mountain and rural areas of Morocco.
COLORS/MATERIALS: Pink, orange, green, blue, and cream tones. Hand woven wool with cotton.
ESTIMATED AGE: Vintage - Estimated to be 30-40 years old.
SIZE: 66 x 111" with tassels/ fringe
PILE/CONDITION: Medium - 1/2"
